The Winter Solstice is the day that the sun’s path through the sky appears to be the lowest. Throughout the fall, the amount of sunlight we have each day becomes shorter until the Winter Solstice. After this, we see a few minutes more of sunlight each day. Throughout history, many people have celebrated the solstice.
Mark the darkest day of the year by making a Solstice Sunbow Card for someone who could use a little sunshine! The lowest “bow” in the Sunbow shows the Winter Solstice sun’s path through the sky.

Instructions
1) Fold three card stock sheets in half.
2) On one sheet, make a fold near the bottom. Unfold.
3) Draw six curves between the two fold lines.
4) Cut out the sections shown to make a “sunbow”. Unfold.
5) Glue the sunbow’s base to the fold of another sheet.
6) Cut the last sheet in half along the fold.
7) Glue a half-sheet down so that it covers the sunbow’s base.
8) Decorate the solstice sunbow card with card stock and markers.
